X5 Communications Pack

Hi

Can anybody tell me what you get with the comms pack on a 53 plate X5

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the comms pack should include widescreen sat nav, tv tuner with teletext, on board computer on the monitor and some sort of phone connection which should probably be bluetooth on that year of car.

If you click on the pic of my interior on the bottom of this message, you can see the menu on the sat nav screen. My car has extra functions e.g. DSP, Aux Ventilation etc, so it depends what extras were specced on the car when new, but should include all of the kit mentioned in the top list.

Hope this helps.

Hey, my 540 has all those functions on your monitor bar the ASSIST one.. What is it and how could I get it? ;-)
I have a renewed AUC Warranty if that helps..

The Assist function is for BMW Emergency Services, e.g. if you breakdown and your car needs towing.

I never had the Assist menu when I bought the car, but when I upgraded the firmware with my V26 disc, it appeared on the menu. That was on my MK3 nav computer. It looked nice on the menu but didn't really do anything on my car. If you selected it, a message would come up saying not available.

When I swapped to MK4 nav it disappeared from the menu. I upgraded it to V26, then V28 but it didn't appear again.

What nav computer are you running? You are welcome to borrow my firmware upgrade discs if you wish :)

Im running V26 (the first one to offer Perspective view) on a MKIV unit. Sounds like yours doesn't work with the DVD unit either then..

Thanks for the offer of your discs though.

I think V27 was the first one to offer perspective view. I could be wrong though.

V27 was the first with perspective view. Assist is subscription based AFAIK know, and when you subscribe. BMW delaer plugs into the car, adds the sub, and it appears on the menu. It gets you help when the car breaks down etc as well as a couple of other things (can't remember what)

BMW 130i with all the toys for the evenings

"Assist" dropped off my menu board during previous upgrades also but only a cosmetic loss, so hardly important

Thanks fellas, wasn't too sure on the firmware but it is perspective so must be V27 :-)
